The Northern Virginia Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program serves residents in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and adult care residences in Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, and Prince William counties and the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Manassas, and Manassas Park. Ombudsmen are trained advocates who work to resolve complaints, ensure residents' rights are respected, and improve quality of care in long-term care facilities. They can assist with concerns about care quality, financial issues, residents' rights, discharge planning, and facility transfers. Ombudsmen make regular visits to facilities, provide education to residents and families about their rights, and can attend care planning meetings as an advocate. Services are confidential, and ombudsmen work on behalf of residents rather than facilities or family members. This is an invaluable resource if you or a loved one lives in or is considering a long-term care facility.
